What Makes a Hand Turned Seam Ripper Different from Store Bought?

If you're a seamstress, then you know how important it is to have a good quality seam ripper. A seam ripper can make or break your sewing project, and a good one can save you a lot of time and frustration.

While you can find some decent seam rippers at your local craft store, nothing compares to a hand turned seam ripper.

There are several advantages to owning a hand turned seam ripper.

First, they are much more durable than store bought options since we use durable resin as well as the finest wood. The blades are made from stainless steel and are replaceable…so you don't have to throw out the ripper if the blade breaks. We do recommend putting the blade in the handle when it isn't being used.

Second, they are usually longer and wider than store bought seam rippers, making them more comfortable to use. You'll notice a grip aid that Paul has put on all of the seam rippers.  This will help so that your fingers won't slip.

And finally, they make a great affordable gift for the seamstress in your life! Since each one is individually hand turned no two will ever be alike.  Truly unique!

The Story Of How Paul Started Turning The Seam Rippers

He started turning the handles for the seam rippers when a couple ladies approached him at a local event. One had bad arthritis and was having a difficult time holding onto a ripper.

After several prototypes, Paul found the correct width and had the lady test it out. From there she told her sewing friends in her sewing club and many were sold. We always hear how comfortable the ripper is to use, and the chore of ripping out seams doesn't seem to be as frustrating.

So if you're in the market for a new seam ripper, or are looking for the perfect gift for the seamstress in your life, consider getting a hand turned seam ripper from Paul. You won't be disappointed!
